On Nov. 12, the UF Diabetes Center of Excellence held a research tour and Century Tower lighting ceremony in honor of World Diabetes Day and Diabetes Awareness Month.

The Intrabeam system brings a new era of treatment for breast cancer patients at Shands at UF. The system is an intraoperative radiation technology available at fewer than 20 treatment centers nationwide and the only one in the state of Florida.

Clay Smith, Ph.D., was awarded the FEO, which is sponsored by the office of the president at UF.
