CTSI offers new service for easy data management

Capturing and managing research study data — even those studies with thousands of data-entry fields — just got easier for UF scientists. The UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute is now offering a new service called REDCap, Research Electronic Data Capture.

Originally developed at Vanderbilt University, it has been adopted by UF and more than 110 other academic institutions that now comprise the REDCap Consortium.

REDCap is a secure, Web-based application designed exclusively to support data capture for research studies and is provided at no cost for IRB-approved studies. A fee-based service is also available for funded researchers and/or those who want to “jump start” research projects.

Features include the ability to create individual schedules for patients, track project events, compare subject records and identify differences, perform double-data entry, build customized reports and upload patient files. The system is powerful and flexible and suitable for longitudinal and multicenter studies. (System access is handled through your Gatorlink account.)

For more information or to register for REDCap, go to https://www.ctsi.ufl.edu/?q=redcap. Once approved you’ll receive a follow-up eUF -mail (typically within 48 hours) and will then have access to a demonstration project and a video training archive to get you started.
