Free tobacco cessation program developed by ex-smokers

The College of Medicine’s department of community health and family medicine has partnered with UF Area Health Education Centers to offer Quit Smoking Now. The six-week tobacco cessation program starts Thursday, July 30 at 2 p.m.

With curriculum developed by ex-smokers, the Quit Smoking Now program features weekly group sessions, one-on-one counseling and follow-up phone calls at one week, four weeks and three months after quit dates.

Activities are held at 1600 SW Archer Road, Gainesville in the Health Science Center’s Communicore Building, Ground Floor, Classroom CG-57. The program is free and open to anyone over the age of 18 who is ready to kick the habit.
