352CreatesLogo_Image_Color-01352Creates invites everyone to join a day of participatory art-making Friday, Feb. 26 throughout the 352 area code in Gainesville and North Central Florida. The community-wide celebration is designed to demonstrate that creativity can be fun for everyone — and it can make our community stronger and healthier.

The initiative is presented by UF Health, Arts in Medicine Programs at UF and the City of Gainesville to promote a healthy and thriving community through creativity.

Local cultural groups, artists, community agencies, businesses and individuals are hosting free arts events and activities that are open to all, regardless of creative experience or skill. Events include hands-on art-making, performance (music, song, dance, theatre, spoken word), culinary arts, gardening and contemplative arts (including mindful meditation, yoga, tai chi and qigong). The whole idea is to have fun.

The culminating celebration of 352Creates will occur 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26 in Lot 10 in Downtown Gainesville. It will include free creative activities, live music and a community sing-along prior to Artwalk Gainesville at 7-10 p.m.

Connect with your inner artist or performer and join in the fun – there are more than 60 events scheduled throughout the 352 area code for this Friday.
