Free tobacco cessation program developed by ex-smokers

The College of Medicine’s department of community health and family medicine has partnered with UF Area Health Education Centers to offer Quit Smoking Now. The five-week tobacco cessation program starts Tuesday, Feb. 9.

With curriculum developed by ex-smokers, the Quit Smoking Now program features weekly group sessions, one-on-one counseling and follow-up phone calls at one week, four weeks and three months after quit dates.

Activities are held at 706 SW 4th Ave., Gainesville. The program is free and open to anyone over the age of 18 who is ready to kick the habit.

Program Outline:
Week 1 – Getting started
Week 2- Preparing for quit day
Week 3- Quit day
Week 4- Relapse prevention/Motivation
Week 5- Life after quitting/Congratulations
