The first African-American graduate of the UF College of Medicine to speak

Reuben Brigety, M.D. ’70, will speak at noon Jan. 12 in the Communicore Building room C1-15 about his experiences in medicine as a minority physician during a tumultuous time in the U.S. This talk is part of the History of Medicine lecture series.

Brigety specialized in obstetrics and gynecology and practiced medicine in Jacksonville, Fla. Brigety and classmate Earl Cotman, M.D., became the first African-American physicians to have graduated from the UF College of Medicine in 1970.
