Michael Nussbaum, M.D., professor and chair of surgery at the UF College of Medicine’s Jacksonville campus, will speak as the Robert H. Hux, M.D., Visiting Professor on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Held as part of the department of surgery’s education week and grand rounds series, the lecture will take place at 7:15 a.m. in Room 6120, which is located on the sixth floor of Shands. Nussbaum, who also serves as the Jacksonville campus’ general surgery residency program director, will present “The Application of Robotic Technology in Minimally Invasive Surgery.”

UF general surgery residency program director George Sarosi, M.D., said the department of surgery is delighted to have Nussbaum as the Hux Visiting Professor of Surgery.

“He is national leader in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery and has been a distinguished surgical educator for more than 20 years,” said Sarosi, an associate professor of surgery. “We look forward to his talk and his valuable insights during the department’s annual education retreat.”

This visiting professor opportunity is supported by the Robert H. Hux, M.D., Professorship in the department of surgery. Hux, a surgeon in private practice who passed away in 2003, flew to UF one day a week to teach and perform surgery with residents. To learn more about Dr. Hux, click here.
