Congratulations are in order for 13 College of Medicine faculty and staff who won a 2009 Superior Accomplishment Award for the Health Science Center’s division for outstanding performance. The winners were nominated and selected by their peers.
The 20-year-old annual award program gives the university the opportunity to recognize faculty and staff who perform their duties beyond expectations and contributes to the success of the university. In some cases, winners volunteer for activities outside of their job descriptions and in the community.
Last fall 82 nominations were submitted for the Health Science Center Division Five. The 13 College of Medicine winners will each receive $200 in cash for their outstanding performance during the 2007-08 academic year at an award ceremony on Tuesday, March 3, at the Savannah Grande Reception and Conference Center in Gainesville.
The call for nominations began in September. Nominators were asked to consider any personal work-related impact the individual had on them, how the nominee completed projects beyond requirements, set an example among coworkers and improved their education and growth to better serve UF. Nominators provided specific examples of such criteria and provided support letters that confirm the candidate’s exceptional performance.
The 13 overachievers will compete with winners in five other divisions for the university-wide awards this spring where one of the College of Medicine winners may be chosen for one of eight $1,000 awards or of six $2,000 awards.
